I'm new here on the forums, but I've been playing Doom 3 for years. I have been playing the LMS co-op mode for about 2 years, properly updating when needed, so I AM using 4.0 and my Doom 3 IS using 1.3.1. I have Windows Vista. I wouldn't be surprised if some of you people recognize my name.
I haven't played for several months. I'd say maybe sometime in November I stopped, and I could play LMS without any problem at all. I haven't really touched Doom 3 since then so I know I didn't screw anything up. But when I tried playing again yesterday everytime I tried logging into a server (that didn't have a stupid password) I was denied saying I didn't have the right pak files. Of course the link doom 3 gave me was a bust because it was to LMS's old site. I tried reinstalling Doom 3 and LMS but still nothing. I've checked on the site but there are no new patches or versions of LMS. Even so I re-downloaded it anyway.
So what's going on? But like I said my Doom 3 is up-to-date and I have been using LMS 4.0 for a long while now with no problems until now. |

That may be the exact problem. Even by reinstallation, you may still have some .pk4 files in your lms4 folder that shouldn't be there. For example, if you have my ts_simulations.pk4 update file, you won't be able to join normal running servers. I pulled from the FAQ what you need.
The following information is from a console dump from after the game has loaded to the main menu. Cross-check your .pk4 files with the ones shown below:
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\game01.pk4 with checksum 0x51c6981f
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\game02.pk4 with checksum 0xf3ec6f7
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\game03.pk4 with checksum 0x5d4230ea
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\pak000.pk4 with checksum 0x28d208f1
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\pak001.pk4 with checksum 0x40244be0
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\pak002.pk4 with checksum 0xc51ecdcd
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\pak003.pk4 with checksum 0xcd79d028
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\pak004.pk4 with checksum 0x765e4f8b

Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\pak008.pk4 with checksum 0x23ae5993
(Note: These d3xp files are only loaded if you have ROE and are trying to run ROE Coop)
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom3\d3xp\game00.pk4 with checksum 0xb8125946
Loaded pk4 C:\Program Files\Doom3\d3xp\game01.pk4 with checksum 0x1d7a5326

Hopefully this helps. _________________ -lmsAlucard

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm starting to think it may be the modding I've done to the base folders's pak files (just sound editing and a skin change or 2, but a few other extra paks of mods I downloaded). But I doubt that. But I reinstalled LMS 4.0 for another go, but there's only 1 server up without use of a password and it's all fulled up, so I can't try. But if and/or when it loses one person I'll try jumping on and seeing if it works. I might be lucky and it'll work.
But if it IS my modding on Doom 3's actual pak files I'll simply make a another Doom 3 on my computer one for single play and modding, and another just for online play. Thankfully I put 2 copies of Doom 3 on a blank disc sometime last year as back-ups just in case I experienced problems. One was version 1.3.1 and another 1.3 but were never modded in any way so they were completely clean. |

Found out it was my modding on Doom 3's base pak files. So this was my own fault... whoops... stupid me.
Anyhoo. I took my own advice and made a separate Doom 3 for just online play. When I installed LMS into that and went on an open server it worked fine. Now to pray that LMS becomes more active... |
