i tried to search for it but i was unable to find anything about this issue on this forum so excuse me if i am redundant.
I noticed that while playing co-op sp that the enemies dont actually drop weapons. this is a pain in the butt as it causes you to never have any ammo.
Im guessing that this happens due to the fact that the characters dont actually die and keep running forward (as i have read it decleases lag). A cool thing would be to maybe spawn a gun or something.... i dunno...
Another thing... im assuming that the enemy dieing causing lag is because of the ragdoll stuff being sent over the network?. If so wouldnt it be better just to send some kind iof data to the client (as is happenenig now im sure) that the thing is dead and have ragdoll effects all client side? so what if the body isnt lieing in the same place on all the clients.... its like that in other games anyway...
I just really think that the guns are important and needed to make the coop game proper instead of having te rely on cheats to get ammo or using infinite ammo or something like that... |

What maps have you been playing? Ammo is plentiful in LMS maps. _________________ -MercyKiller |

Which SP maps? I do give the player weapons when they spawn if the map does not have many to pickup. On the early maps, you will have mainly a pistol or machinegun. The later maps you get a shotgun and chaingun. I tried to make it both challenging and fun for the players. Remember that there are more players killing the same number of monsters that were designed for one player. Having less ammo will make the player think before they shoot. If they run out, they are stuck using a pistol until they can find more ammo or weapons. I would be curious which maps you were talking about. I can always add more if the need is there.

i tried it on alpha labs specificly but...
what exactly do you mean when you say that you giove the player weapons? like, do you give it to them at the start? or do you give it to the player when he kills something??
What I mean is that the enemies dont actually spawn weapons and drop them when they die. so if 3 marines attack me with machine guns... i want a machine gun when they die!!! or at least more ammo for the one that i have if i already have it. spawning more weapons on the floor then what are originally there is not the answer (in my oppinion). I understand that there are more ppl and therfore less ammo per person, and thats fine... but i still think that enemies should drop weapons |

Samtron is right, you get the weapons in inventory when you spawn. I believe the monsters do not drop their weapons because of the removal of ragdolls, not sure though. I added the extra weapons to the inventory for two reasons. Lack of weapons on the map and because the zsec's do not drop them. There should not be any level that the player is stuck with just a pistol and some grenades. Either you spawn with them or you can pick them up. Like on the map Admin, there is a shotgun right outside the door where the marine is dying and there is a chaingun in the Martian Buddy cabinet. I know what you mean about wanting to pickup the weapons from the dead marines but that is not possible right now. Maybe in a future release.

| certainly possible, the question is if we can balance it so it improves the gameplay. And it would take time to implement, like everything else on the todo list. |

you seem to be missing the point.... i undurstand that you get weapons at the start and thats a good thing...
my point is that you dont continue to get ammo from enemies as you kill them! they dont drop weapons, you cant get MORE ammo, there is no more ammo to get from the dead enemies because they dont spawn weapons. no ammo is made by the enemies to be given to the player when the enemy dies. the enemies dont donate the player with ammo.
get it? is it possible to make enemies drop ammo? |
